“I just sit in my office and read all day.” Warren Buffett
So I have been seeing the quote a lot ” Read one book a week and learn 10 new words!”, at first I questioned the possibility of this, as in do I have enough hours in a day to do this? Will it really benefit me? The answer to the question if obviously yes. -I enjoy reading however the last time I read that many books in a month was when I studying for my GCSE’s. So 4 books in a month should be an easy challenge. The plan is straightforward along with reading a book a week, I will also include blogs and articles to the list. Essentially if you’re not already doing so follow me on Twitter where I will share the blogs and articles that I will be reading. You might be wondering why on earth would I want to read that many books in a year? Well here are couple reasons why reading more books is essential:
- You will become a better writer.
- Open your heart to new ideas and inspire you in way you can never imagine.
- Increase in knowledge, you can never stop learning and I’m sure you’re learn something you every day.
- Stretch your creativity and birth new ideas.
To kick off my challenge I have started reading: Steal Like An Artist by Austin Kleon, So far I am loving and enjoying this book. It is so full of ideas many of them are so obvious. My favourite quote “what a good artist understands is that nothing comes from nowhere. All creative work builds on what came before. Nothing is completely original.” So rather than copying exactly what is being done, learn and add your own twist on old ideas.
What are your favourite books to read? Feel free to leave me recommendations!
