INTERVIEW: AYOMIDE A- MAKEUP ARTIST

Hey guys, blog features are coming to an end (for now). I hope you have enjoyed the mini series.  My final feature is for all make up and good skin care loves.  Meet Ayomide she a make up artist and gele specialist LOL.

WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION FROM?

Honestly I would think some of my look choices come from other influencers I see on Instagram but mostly I have realised that my colour choices are inspired by things around me and most importantly my mood. Yes my mood lol.

WHO ARE SOME PEOPLE THAT HAVE INSPIRED YOU THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER?

My main inspirations have been the likes of Lakesanu, I remember she taught me how to contour and actually line my lips when she was still on counter in Selfridges working for Mac. To be honest there is a long list of people who have inspired me throughout my career but my mother is by far my biggest critic and biggest supporter. A few other people in the industry that I will say I have tried to adapt their techniques are the likes of Raschelle, Ellarie, Angel Cumberbatch, Savannah Sylver, Nikkie Tutorials, Patrickstaarr, Bernicia Boateng, Deebeautebydolly just to name a few lol.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT MAKE UP?

The thing I love most about makeup is the versatility of it, and like fashion and style it allows one to express themselves freely without limitation.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SIGNATURE LOOK AND WHAT IS IT ABOUT YOUR STYLE THAT SETS YOU APART FROM OTHER MAKEUP ARTISTS?

O, I am not sure if I have a signature look lol, but I guess I do love glam and colour. My ‘signature’ look reflects my personality I would say I am not always the easiest person to understand and my emotions tend to drive me, and are always written on my face how I am feeling. I guess what sets me apart from other makeup artists is that I don’t like creating the same looks, every time I create something it has to be different from the last and more elaborate. I hate repetitive looks I find them elusive if I am honest and quite frankly boring.

WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT BEAUTY ADVICE THAT YOU CAN GIVE TO WOMEN?

I would say taking care of your skin and being happy with who you are, makeup can only enhance what you already have don’t go trying to change what God gave you but enhance it and beautifying it to show or rather to show the extent of Gods handiwork.

WHAT PRODUCTS DO YOU THINK SHOULD BE A STAPLE IN EVERY WOMAN’S PURSE?

Eyebrow pomade, concealer, highlighter(hehe), primer, setting powder, and setting spray

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MAKE UP PRODUCT?

O this is a tough one, I would say my favourite makeup product ever is my Nars Radiant Creamy concealer.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO UPCOMING MAKEUP ARTISTS?

Do not compare your success with others and do not compromise what makes you unique in order to fit in and gain bookings. I am not anywhere near where I want to be, but the last few years have shown me to stay true to myself and remain different it is what makes  you special. Not everyone will get you or want to take a risk with you, but trust me those who believe in you and see your potential will make it worth while. Also you don’t have to buy every new beauty product that hits on the market ensure you have the staples and buy what you need.

This is the second time in my life that I have trusted someone else to do my make up and I loved every minute of my makeover.
